Life on campus
Located in the heart of downtown Denver, the University of Colorado Denver downtown campus is part of the vibrant Denver scene. The campus is part of the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC), which houses three separate institutions, UC Denver, Metropolitan State College and Colorado Community College.
Some resources on campus are shared between the colleges, such as the Tivoli Student Union, the Library and some classrooms.
Living on campus
The Auraria campus is located in downtown Denver, and grew up as a commuter campus. However since 2006 Campus Village dorms were introduced and they have been a very successful addition to the campus.
Freshmen from UC Denver are required to live in the dorms unless they qualify for an exemption. Dorm life aids you in your education and the social aspects of college living. Campus Village offers modern apartment style living with utilities, cable and high speed internet provided as part of the package.
Tivoli Student Union

The Tivoli Student Union is housed in the reclaimed Tivoli Brewery which closed in 1969. History Professor Tom Noel, also known as Dr. Colorado, gives a history of the landmark.
Today the Tivoli houses the Student Union, complete with eating venues, the Starz Film Center, the University Bookstore, Student Auxiliary Services and more.
The Tivoli is centrally located on campus and one of our treasured landmarks.
The Auraria Library
The Auraria Library is also centrally located on campus and is shared by the three institutions which makes it one of the best resources for your research.
The library is a bright open space where you can find quiet places to study and rooms to do group work. Your wireless connections work throughout the building. As a student, be sure your records are correct with the library so you can use their off-campus access to library databases from home.
The King Center
One of the newest buildings on campus, the King Center houses state of the art computer enabled smart classrooms and performance space for the campus. Walking through the main hall of the King Center and see the art installation, Viatica, from Lonnie Hanzon, a talented local Denver artist. The King center puts on plays and events throughout the year and often offers discounted student rates. If you would like more information about events, see the College of Arts and Media events.
