Add an MBA to your Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP)
You will have a distinct advantage when you add an MBA to your Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree. This is an era where developmental strategy must enlist the combined energies of both public and private sectors for collective social gain. Your dual degree MBA/MURP will give you an understanding of both.
Together, these two degrees help you, the planner, understand not only the process of planning within the public sector, but also private enterprise.
By having both degrees allows you to harness private initiatives as you plan land use, promote the economy, and maintain valued landscapes.
Similarly, these two degrees together help you, the business leader, function within the context of public fiscal, participatory, and regulatory constraints, and teaches you how to place business decisions within the broad array of community interests and aspirations.
Above all, the dual degree program aims to educate you in the practice of strategic planning in service to the community at large.
