Welcome to the Center for Information Technology Innovation

Information Technology (IT) represents both a great opportunity and significant challenge for businesses in our region. The Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) matches the resources of the university with those of its member companies to provide a forum where innovative solutions to these issues can be explored and implemented. Its mission is to help organizations take full advantage of IT opportunities through programs of excellence in information interchange, education and research, and through collaborative initiatives.

CITI is part of the Business School at the University of Colorado at Denver and includes prominent Colorado businesses as corporate sponsors and members.

Examples of center programs include:

  • Annual Tech-Smart Panel Event - Topics have included “New CEO Strategies and Challenges,” featuring CEOs from J.D. Edwards, Ball Corporation and Qwest Communications; and “Future of Telecom,” featuring CEOs from Level 3 Communications, UnitedGlobalCom and AT&T Wireless.

  • CIO of the Year Award - Each year CITI presents its CIO of the Year Award to a Colorado CIO whose made significant contributions to their organization and the community. Previous winners have included Virginia Guthrie of Coors Brewing Company.

  • Business Driven Information Technology: Answers to 100 Critical Questions for Every Manager - CITI played an important role in the development and publication of this book published by Stanford University Press. The book will debut at the Colorado Technology Summit 2003 in September.

  • Best Practice Sharing - CITI members come together to discuss IT issues, sharing successes and failures to ensure that all members benefit from lessons learned.

  • CIO Magazine Roundtable - Publisher of CIO magazine, Gary Beach, facilitated a member discussion about the state of IT today, the legacy albatross, knowledge management and cutting costs.
